Springfield, Mo. – Evangel women's basketball had two players selected as all-conference performers and both are underclassmen. Sophomore center Allison Swanson was named a 2nd Team All-Heart of America conference selection in vote of league coaches this week. Sophomore forward Reggine Brown was named an honorable mention all-conference selection.
Swanson, from Omaha, Nebraska, ranked 11th in the conference in scoring averaging 13 points per game and she is eighth in rebounding averaging at 7.2 boards per game. Swanson also ranks in the second in league in field goal percentage (.522).
Brown, from Tampa, Florida, averaged 10.8 points per game against the conference. She scored in double figures in nine of the 18 league games including three straight 20 plus point performances. The award is Brown's first all-conference selection.
The ninth seeded Crusaders (5-21, 4-14) open the conference tournament tonight at #8 Central Methodist (14-14, 5-13). Game time is 7 p.m. in Fayette, Missouri. The winner of Monday's game advances to the HAAC quarterfinals to play top seeded MidAmerica Nazarene.
