Waxahachie, Tex. – The Crusaders allowed 52 points in the second half as Evangel let an eight point halftime lead slip in a 94-87 loss to Southeastern (Fla.) in the AGCU Classic in Waxahachie, Texas on Thursday.
Evangel led 50-42 at halftime but were outscored 52-37 in the second half. The Crusaders made 20 of 32 shots in the first half but only shot 35 percent in the second half while the Fire shot 53 percent from the floor and were 11 for 17 from three-point range in the game.
Richard Chapman had 27 points for Evangel while Jalen Norman added 23 on 10 of 13 shooting from the floor.
Caleb Konieczny led Southeastern with 25 points.
The loss was Evangel's sixth in a row and dropped their record to 1-10. Southeastern improved to 6-4 and snapped a four game losing streak.
Evangel takes on 15th ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God (Tex.) University tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in the second day of the AGCU Classic.
