Springfield, Mo. – Evangel women's soccer fell in Heart of America conference play on Saturday evening 9-0 to 8th ranked Benedictine in the season finale.
Benedictine scored five goals in the first half and four in the second. Hannah Trandahl led the way for the Ravens scoring three goals and adding four assists. Ashley Chandler had a hat trick of her own, with Tori Sanders, Olivia Meyers, and Abbie Hair chipping in with goals.
Before the game, Evangel honored three seniors for Senior Day. Charley Lepper, Aleesa Salcido, and Lindsey Ellis were all awarded with gifts before the game. This marked the first graduating class in Evangel women's soccer history.
With the loss, Evangel's record dropped to 0-16 and 0-10 in the Heart of America conference. Benedictine improved to 16-1-1, and 8-1-1 in the conference. The win clinched the outright Heart of America conference regular season championship for Benedictine
The loss concludes Evangel's inaugural season of women's soccer. Despite going winless for the season, Evangel had several players with career highlights. Josie Gregory is among the national leaders in two goalkeeping categories, 5th in saves (155), and 9th in saves per game (10.33). Rebekah Pell led the Crusaders in goals with six on the season including the first in Evangel women's soccer history against Lyon (Ark.) in the season opener.
