Springfield, Mo. – Evangel women's basketball team dropped their second consecutive conference game with a 78-56 loss to Baker at the Ashcroft Center Saturday.

Evangel trailed by just one at halftime, 31-30, but Baker slowly built the lead and outscored the Crusaders 47-26 in the second half.

Allison Swanson led Evangel with a game-high 19 points and 9 rebounds.  Evangel's season scoring leader Taylor Longley left the game with seven minutes remaining the first half with a leg injury and did not return.

Baker was led by Kyristie Ehm, who scored 18 points. Jami Hodge added 14 points in the win.

"I thought our kids played hard but we couldn't stop them in the second half," said Evangel head coach Leon Neal. "They switched to a zone in the second half it seemed like we panicked against it and that's when we stopped getting the ball inside."

The Crusaders shot 32 percent from the field going 16 for 50 while Baker shot 57 percent from the floor including a 17 for 25 shooting performance in the second half.

The Crusaders dropped to 4-10 and 3-3 in league play.  The Wildcats improved to 11-6 and 4-3 in the conference.

Evangel hosts Culver-Stockton at the Ashcroft Center on Monday afternoon in the next game. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
