Ryne Strickland joined the Evangel football staff in the spring of 2025 as the Valor’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, after the departure of Cody Wells to Louisiana-Monroe (NCAA D-I).
Strickland comes to Evangel after four seasons as the Shorter University (NCAA D-II) Wide Receivers, Special Teams, and Pass Game coordinator. Strickland was also responsible for the recruiting of athletes in Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina while at Shorter.
Before Shorter, Strickland spent seven seasons at his alma mater, NCAA FCS-member Jacksonville State where he was a graduate assistant for Wide Receivers and student assistant for Quarterbacks.
The Greenville, South Carolina product played quarterback during his time as JSU from 2013-15. Strickland played a large role in helping JSU claim three OVC titles and just six OVC losses in four seasons, extending the Gamecocks’ streak of conference titles to an OVC-record five from 2014-18. While at JSU, Strickland was coached by and worked with former Evangel offensive coordinator, Cody Wells.
Strickland is married to his wife, Emilee, and has two daughters, Harper and Hallee. The Strickland’s currently reside in Springfield.
