David Flores returned to his alma mater in 2016 and was promoted to Offensive Coordinator in the spring of 2022. He also continues as the recruiting coordinator and will coach the offensive line starting in 2022.
Flores helped the Valor push to an undefeated regular season and postseason berth in 2023, coaching offensive All-Americans Dillon Hester (WR) and CJ Anoa'i (OL).
Flores previously worked at the University of Missouri in the football recruiting department in 2013 and was elevated to assistant director of recruiting in 2014. In his two seasons at Mizzou, the Tigers won the SEC East going a combined 23-5 and winning the Cotton Bowl and Citrus Bowl.
Prior to his time at Mizzou, Flores spent a season coaching the linebackers at Evangel after spending two seasons at Avila University from 2011-12.Â
Avila broke 16 offensive school records during his tenure, including most points in a season, most receptions in a season by a receiver, and most passing yards in a game. He developed four All-Heart of America Athletic Conference receivers, including the school's all-time leader in receptions and first-team All-HAAC honoree Da'Veion Sullivan.
Originally from Fayetteville, Arkansas, Flores played fullback and tight end for Evangel, where he was a four-year letterman from 2006 to 2009 and team captain for his final season.
He received his bachelor's degree in physical education in 2010 from Evangel and earned a master's in Education from Avila in 2012. He and his wife Christine, who is also an Evangel alum, and reside in Springfield.
