Valor Baseball Head Coach Tyler Henry enters his third season at the helm in the Spring of 2024. Henry was named the head coach in the Fall of 2021.
Coach Henry currently touts a 44-54 all-time record as head coach of Evangel, leading the team to it's first .500 season (25-25) since the suspended 2020 season. Henry's teams have earned NAIA Scholar Team recognition in both of his first two seasons. Henry also helped coach Austin Dill, who played professionally for the Missoula Paddleheads in the summer of 2023.
Henry rejoined his alma mater in 2019 after returning Marshfield baseball to prominence with a 20-9 record in his final season as the head coach.Â
After inheriting a 3-21 team, he helped the Blue Jays to a 10-15 record before posting the 20-win season in 2018.
Before his two seasons at Marshfield, he got his head coaching start at Buffalo High School where he turned around a program that had won just four games prior to his arrival in 2015. He started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Willard High School where he was the catching and hitting instructor for the Tigers. During his tenure, Willard won three straight district titles and made back-to-back Final Four appearances in 2012 and 2013.
An all-conference catcher for Evangel in 2008, Henry led the team in home runs and RBIs. He carried a .320 average his senior season and hit over .300 for his career while also earning NAIA Academic All-America honors both seasons after transferring from Seward County Community College.
Henry earned all-conference honors at Seward where graduated in 2006. A native of Denver, Colorado, Henry graduated from Denver Christian High School in 2004.
He and his wife, Megan (Jewell) Henry have been married since 2014 and have two children, Everly and Trace.
