STERLING, Kan. – Valor Softball concluded their road trip on Friday (Apr. 3) afternoon, taking on the Sterling College Warriors in a KCAC matchup.

The offense struggled in game one, plating just one run and finishing with just three hits, falling 2-1 to the Warriors. The second game proved to be the complete opposite of game one, as EU scored 15, run-ruling the Warriors in five innings, 15-0.

NOTABLE

  • Madi Bentley earned the win in game two, her 12th of the season, striking out four batters.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Evangel scored the first run of game one in the top of the third, as Chloe Krans walked and scored on a Kenna Mayfield double to left field.

  • The Valor offense was unable to add any additional runs on Friday, falling 2-1 after Sterling scored a pair in the bottom of the sixth.

  • After a scoreless first inning in game two, Evangel plated 10 runs in the top of the second to lead 10-0. Kaylee Dolores opened the inning with a double, scoring on an error that allowed Karli Facklam to get on base. Danielle Cutbirth worked a walk, while Mayfield hit a single to score Facklam. Naomi Perkins also worked a walk, with a Lauren Dill single scoring Cutbirth. Natalie Morgan singled to score both Mayfield and Perkins, while an Audrey Carlton triple cleared the bases to make it a 7-0 ballgame. Dolores singled and scored with Carlton on a Facklam double, before a Krans sacrifice fly scored Facklam to wrap up scoring in the inning.

  • Evangel's defense held Sterling at bay and the offense added five additional runs in the fourth, taking advantage of walks and errors from the Warriors defense to solidify the 15-0 win and split with Sterling.
