NOTABLE

  • Madi Bentley recorded her 10th win of the season against the Bulldogs, striking out five batters, while Sarah Wilkinson was dominant in her outing, striking out all three batters she faced.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After both teams went scoreless in the first two innings of play on Saturday, Evangel scored their first run in the bottom of the third, as Danielle Cutbirth singled and scored on a Naomi Perkins single up the middle, giving EU a 1-0 lead.

  • Evangel scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth, as Audrey Carlton tripled and scored on a sacrifice bunt from Karli Facklam. Facklam came across to score on a Chloe Krans single, while Krans scored on a Cutbirth single. Wrapping up scoring in game one was Kenna Mayfield, who hit a sacrifice fly to score Cutbirth, solidifying Evangel's 5-0 win after Meierer and company shut down the Bulldogs.

  • The Valor scored first in game two, as Camryn Casey walked and ultimately scored on a passed ball, after an error, to give EU a 1-0 lead.

  • McPherson scored runs in the top of the third and the fourth innings to take a 2-1 lead over the Valor.

  • Evangel added eight runs in the bottom of the fourth to capture a 9-2 lead. Lauren Dill was hit by a pitch, scoring on a Facklam sacrifice bunt. After Krans singled, Cutbirth hit a double to score both runners. A Mayfield triple scored Cutbirth, and a Perkins single scored Mayfield, making it a 6-2 game. After Casey worked a walk, Natalie Morgan ripped a ball to deep left center field, hitting a three run home run to make it a 9-2 ballgame.

  • After Sarah Wilkinson struck out the side in relief in the fifth inning, Kaylee Dolores singled and came around to score on a pair of sacrifice bunts, giving EU the run-rule win over McPherson, 10-2.
