STERLING, Kan. -- Evangel MBB hit the road on Saturday (Feb. 21) evening to cap off their 2025-26 regular season, taking on the Sterling Warriors. A dominant first half showing helped catapult the Valor to their 18th win of the season, 80-63, over the Warriors, as EU earned the sixth seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Evangel jumped out to an early double digit lead on Saturday, 17-7, after four of the five Evangel starters all scored to open the game. Three pointers from Tommy Pinegar and Luke Foster helped the Valor stall a brief Sterling run in the first half, while Drew McMillin began to get hot from the floor. Jumpers from Jacob Lafferty and Garrett Davault helped the Valor extend their lead to 16 points, 43-27, at the halftime break in Sterling.

Harrison Doennig began to get hot on offense, scoring a trio of baskets to help Evangel jump out to a 24-point lead, before Drew McMillin and Tommy Pinegar nailed three pointers to give the Valor their largest lead of the evening, 65-39. The Valor bench continued to keep EU ahead of Sterling by double-digits, as Bryce Ware and Cade Sutton did most of the work in the final 10 minutes of play, resulting in a 80-63 win over Sterling in the regular season finale.

"I thought we played good basketball on both ends of the floor tonight," head coach Bert Capel stated. "Playing on the road is tough to do and I was proud of how we competed."

NOTABLE 

• Drew McMillin led Evangel with 15 points in the win.

• Jacob Lafferty (14 pts.), Harrison Doennig (14 pts.), and Garrett Davault (13 pts.) rounded out double-digit scoring on Saturday.

• Doennig and Davault led EU with seven rebounds in the win.

• Evangel shot 53.4 percent from the floor in Saturday's win.

Evangel MBB earned the #6-seed for the KCAC Conference Tournament and will travel to #3-seeded McPherson College on Thursday (Feb. 26) night at 7:00 p.m. for the Conference Tournament Quarterfinals.
