STERLING, Kan. -- Evangel MBB hit the road on Saturday (Feb. 21) evening to cap off their 2025-26 regular season, taking on the Sterling Warriors. A dominant first half showing helped catapult the Valor to their 18th win of the season, 80-63, over the Warriors, as EU earned the sixth seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
Evangel jumped out to an early double digit lead on Saturday, 17-7, after four of the five Evangel starters all scored to open the game. Three pointers from Tommy Pinegar and Luke Foster helped the Valor stall a brief Sterling run in the first half, while Drew McMillin began to get hot from the floor. Jumpers from Jacob Lafferty and Garrett Davault helped the Valor extend their lead to 16 points, 43-27, at the halftime break in Sterling.
Harrison Doennig began to get hot on offense, scoring a trio of baskets to help Evangel jump out to a 24-point lead, before Drew McMillin and Tommy Pinegar nailed three pointers to give the Valor their largest lead of the evening, 65-39. The Valor bench continued to keep EU ahead of Sterling by double-digits, as Bryce Ware and Cade Sutton did most of the work in the final 10 minutes of play, resulting in a 80-63 win over Sterling in the regular season finale.
