Box Score

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Evangel WBB traveled to Oklahoma on Wednesday (Feb. 18) evening, taking on the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles in their final Wednesday night regular season contest of the year. Despite out-scoring the Eagles in every quarter, Evangel and OKWU played a tightly contested game, with the Valor pulling it out late on Wednesday, 75-68.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 7-2 lead over the Valor, but a pair of layups from Heaven Shockley, jumper from Ali Kamies, and three pointer from Carson Dillard gave the Valor an 11-9 lead with 5:20 remaining in the first quarter. Both teams traded baskets with Alyssa McCarty and Kamies both hitting three pointers to keep the score close. Cassidy Hambelton scored a layup to close the period, as the Valor led 21-19 heading into the second quarter.

Shockley opened the second quarter with a pair of baskets and a three pointer from McCarty gave EU their largest lead of the quarter, 32-28, with 4:39 remaining in the first half. OKWU responded by re-taking the lead over the Valor, but baskets from McCarty and Dillard to close the half gave EU a 38-35 lead at the break.

Dillard scored half of Evangel's points in the third quarter, as neither team was able to score much points in the period, the lowest scoring output in a quarter for both teams. A three pointer from Dillard gave EU a 52-47 lead with 1:44 left in the third quarter, which proved to be the final basket of the period.

Mae Mae Gilmore provided a spark off the bench in the fourth quarter, scoring six points to open scoring for EU along with a three pointer from Kamies, as the Valor captured a 61-53 lead with 6:55 left in the ballgame. A 9-0 OKWU run over the following three minutes allowed the Eagles to take a one-point lead over EU, 62-61. Shockley and Hambelton closed out the game for Evangel, as the Valor were efficient to close out Wednesday's game, scoring on every possession over the final three minutes of play, resulting in a 75-68 win on Wednesday.
