WINFIELD, Kan. – Evangel Men's Soccer traveled to Kansas on Wednesday (Oct. 14) night, taking on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders, aiming to bounce back after a tough road loss to York. Southwestern scored early and was able to keep Evangel off the scoreboard, resulting in the Valor falling, 1-0.
Southwestern got on the board early on Wednesday, scoring their first goal of the contest at the 4:40 mark. Vasco Goncalves attempted to answer the goal, recording five shots over the following 16 minutes, but none found the back of the net, keeping the game at 1-0 at the halftime break, as EU was unable to record an additional shot in the half.
Michael Kanoa opened the second half with a shot on goal, but the Moundbuilders keeper earned the save, keeping EU from tying the game. The Valor would put pressure on Southwestern late with Goncalves again recording a shot on goal, but Evangel's offense was unable to find the equalizer on Wednesday, falling 1-0 in full time.
