SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Softball returned home on Thursday (Mar. 20) afternoon to host the Ottawa Braves, looking to continue their winning streak against a strong Ottawa squad.
Evangel struggled to hold the Braves offense on Thursday, as Ottawa strung across 24 combined hits and scored 19 runs, causing the Valor to fall 7-4 and 12-4 on Thursday.

In game one, Ottawa took a 3-0 lead in the third inning, using several singles and walks to take their lead.

Evangel responded by scoring Danielle Cutbirth on a Ellie Facklam single and fielding error to make it a 3-1 ballgame.

Maddy Meierer settled in, but a three run home run in the sixth inning gave Ottawa a 6-1 lead over EU.

The Valor matched the Braves by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Riley Johannes and Karli Facklam both singled with Autumn Nold scoring, after running for Johannes, on a wild pitch. Lauren Dill singled to score K. Facklam, while a ground out scored Camryn Casey to make it a 6-4 ballgame.

Ottawa added an insurance run in the seventh and the Valor could not score to close the game, falling 7-4 in game one.

In game two, the Braves rattled off nine runs through the first and second innings to take an early 9-0 lead.

Johannes doubled to left center field to open the second inning, scoring on a Lauren Dill single to make it 9-1.

Evangel added another score in the bottom of the third as Naomi Perkins tripled and scored on a Ellie Facklam sacrifice fly to narrow the deficit, 9-2.

K. Facklam doubled to open the fourth inning and Casey hit a sacrifice fly to inch Evangel closer, 9-3.

Ottawa added a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning to make it a 12-3 game, as the Valor needed to score a pair of runs to not get run ruled in the bottom of the sixth.

Romines and K. Facklam both singled in the seventh inning with a wild pitch scoring Romines to make the deficit eight runs, 12-4. With Karli on second base, Evangel could not get Facklam home, as they fell 12-4 in six innings of play.
