SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Evangel Men's Basketball hosted York on Saturday (Dec. 13) afternoon, looking to close out their home 2025 slate with a win. The Valor would dominate to cruise to their sixth straight win, 92-55, using a 19-point outing from Garrett Davault to push to victory.
Evangel jumped out to a 14-5 lead to open Saturday's game, as both Jacob Lafferty and Harrison Doennig scored five points in the first five minutes of play. York would fight back, using a 12-5 run to trail by just two points, 19-17, with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Ty Campbell and Cade Sutton helped Evangel extend their lead to double digits and Cole Griesemer capped off the half by nailing a three pointer that he was fouled on, converting a rare four point play. A pair of free throws by Campbell closed out the first half with Evangel ahead, 45-23, holding York to just 30 percent shooting in the period.
Davault and Akarius Staten-Ballance led Evangel in the second half, as both scored 10 points in the Valor's 47-point period. Any opportunity that York had to get back into the game was stalled by runs from the Evangel offense, as EU held at least a 30-point lead for the majority of the second half. Dane Foster and Kaleb Wofford used three pointers to help the Valor capture their largest lead of the night, 92-53 (39 pts.). York scored the final basket, but the game was well in hand, as Evangel captured their sixth straight win, 92-55.
