Box ScoreĀ

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Evangel Men's Basketball welcomed the Mission Patriots to AGFinancial Arena on Tuesday night, looking to take their second consecutive win of the season after defeating Tabor on Saturday. A career night from Harrison Doennig pushed the Valor to a 101-85 win on Tuesday, as Doennig scored the most points by a single player since Cade Coffman's 42-point performance against Drury back in 2021.

Evangel jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, as Drew McMillin scored the first five points, followed by a basket from Garrett Davault. Seven consecutive Harrison Doennig points extended Evangel's lead to 14-4 over Mission, not even five minutes into Tuesday's contest. A Davault three pointer made it a 17-4 ballgame, but the Patriots would come storming back, using a 18-7 run to trail by just two points, 24-22, with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Valor re-took a double digit lead following the media timeout, as baskets from Cade Sutton and Luke Foster helped fuel Evangel's offense. More baskets from Doennig helped EU push out to a 14-point lead and a three pointer on EU's final possession from Harrison gave EU a 52-38 halftime lead over Mission.

Despite a strong first half from Doennig, the redshirt sophomore had an even more efficient second half, shooting 6-7 from the floor and scoring 20 points. Harrison opened the second half similar to how he closed the first half, nailing a three pointer to give the Valor a 55-38 lead. Five consecutive points from McMillin extended the Valor lead to 62-41, before a basket from Jacob Lafferty gave EU their largest lead of the evening, 68-44. Mission would draw back within 14 on a pair of occasions, but the damage had been done, as EU hit the century mark on a Dane Foster jumper, cruising to a 101-85 win on Tuesday.

QUOTABLEĀ

"I thought our motion offense was very good tonight which we have been stressing a lot lately," head coach Bert Capel stated. "It was also good to see Harrison Doennig shoot it well. We're going to need him and others to step up this year if we want to compete at a high level."
