KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Evangel concluded their three game road trip on Wednesday (Nov. 19) evening, taking on the Avila Eagles in a KCAC matchup. The Valor would dominate on Wednesday, holding the home team to just 20 second half points, taking a 95-48 win over Avila to go 3-0 in their brief roadstand.
Carson Dillard and Ali Kamies both nailed three pointers to open the game, before a Kamies jumper gave EU a 8-4 lead. Nine consecutive points from Heaven Shockley helped extend the Valor lead to nine points, 17-8. The Eagles closed out the quarter with a three to make it a 22-12 ballgame, in favor of EU.
Lydia Babirye and Kamies helped Evangel extend their lead, as Kamies added nine and Babirye added eight to the scoreboard, to take a 49-28 halftime lead. The Valor defense forced 16 turnovers at the halftime break, helping lead to their 21-point halftime lead.
The third quarter was led by point guard Cassidy Hambelton, who scored eight points and passed off five assists in the period. Evangel would continue to extend their advantage, closing out the quarter on a 11-2 run to take a 76-38 lead.
Evangel continued their dominant effort into the final quarter of play, as the Valor added to their lead behind seven points from Ashton Bell and six points from Evin Montgomery, as Bell's layup with under a minute remaining gave EU their largest lead of the night (48), ultimately taking a 95-48 road victory on Wednesday.
