NIXA, Mo. – Evangel Football closed out their 2025 regular season on Saturday (Nov. 15) afternoon, hosting the Bethany College Swedes. The Valor defense would hold Bethany scoreless in the second half, as the offense remained consistent, scoring 41 points in a 41-10 victory. With the win, Evangel clinched the Kessinger Division outright, finishing 5-0 in divisional play.
On Bethany's first play of the game, the Swedes threw an interception to Talon Stephens, setting EU up in prime position to score on their first drive. A 23-yard reception by Brady Blackwell set the Valor up in the redzone, with Brady Allen catching a five yard touchdown pass to give EU a 7-0 lead.
After both teams punted on their following possessions, Reid Potts found Jeremiah Barnes open on the near sideline, as the wide receiver ran 46 yards to extend Evangel's lead, 14-0.Â
Bethany drove most of the field before Evangel held the Swedes to a field goal, making it a 14-3 ballgame. Drew Ripko returned the following kickoff 89 yards, putting EU on the Swede five yard line. Potts again found Barnes in the endzone to give EU a 21-3 lead just before the end of the first quarter.
After Bethany's offense punted, a Potts' pass was picked off and returned for a touchdown on a screen pass, making the Bethany deficit just 11 points, 21-10.Â
After several punts, Evangel found the endzone once more just before halftime, as Potts found Brady Allen on the sideline for a 41-yard reception to give EU a 28-10 halftime lead.
Evangel and Bethany both punted on their first two possessions of the second half before the Valor added another touchdown after Eric Williams II ran it in, giving EU a 35-10 lead.
The Valor defense stood tall the remainder of the second half, as Evangel added a touchdown rush by Williams to open the final quarter of play, solidifying EU's 41-10 win over Bethany.
Offensively, Reid Potts finished his day with 221 passing yards and four touchdown passes, while Eric Williams II led EU in rushing with 91 yards. Jeremiah Barnes finished with a pair of touchdown receptions and 57 yards receiving.
Jaren Foster led Evangel with seven tackles, while Deacon Peterson finished 3.0 tackles for loss. Erik Spring and Talon Stephens both recorded interceptions in the win.
