HILLSBORO, Kan. – Evangel Football took on the Tabor College Bluejays on Saturday in their final road game of the regular season. Despite scoring just three points in the first half, the Evangel offense bounced back in the second, scoring 24 points and allowing touchdowns on just Tabor's first and final drive of the game, en route to a 27-14 win.

Tabor used a 14 play, 76-yard drive to open Saturday's game, taking an early 7-0 lead over the Valor. Reid Potts threw a dime to Broc Lyle for 53 yards to open Evangel's first drive of the afternoon, but EU would be unable to earn another first down on the drive, kicking a 20-yard field goal to make it a 7-3 ballgame.

Neither team was able to score on any additional drives in the first half, as Evangel would drive all the way down to the Tabor 14-yard line, but come up short on a fourth down attempt in the red zone, trailing 7-3 at the halftime break.

Evangel opened the second half with another Cody Voysey field goal, this one from 30 yards out to draw EU within a point of the Bluejay lead, 7-6. After earning a stop, Evangel again scored on their following drive, with Kayleb Darst scoring a touchdown on a pass from Potts, set up by a 31-yard completion to Brady Allen.

Leading 13-7, another defensive stop was paired with another long reception to Lyle, as Eric Williams II scored from a yard out to extend Evangel's lead to 20-7.

The Valor defense continued their dominant performance, again earning a stop, as Evangel took possession and drained most of the fourth quarter clock, with Williams II again scoring to make it 27 unanswered points for Evangel, taking a 27-7 lead over Tabor.

The Bluejays would score a touchdown in "garbage time" to make the final score 27-14, as Evangel came away with their third win in divisional play.

Offensively, Reid Potts finished his day with 258 passing yards and one touchdown pass, while Broc Lyle led all receivers with 169 yards receiving. Eric Williams II finished his afternoon with 68 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to lead all rushers.

Defensive statistics are still being accumulated, but the Evangel defense finished with 10 sacks and 14 tackles for loss, dominating the Tabor offensive line in the win.
