SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Valor Men's Basketball opened their 2025-26 season on Monday (Oct. 27) night, hosting the Central Christian College of the Bible Saints. Evangel would dominate offensively, scoring 125 points, nine points shy of the school record, and take a 44-point victory, 125-81.

Evangel jumped out with a quick 16-3 run to open the game, with Drew McMillin nailing a trio of three pointers to push EU out to their lead. CCC would fight back in the half, using a 16-8 run to draw within five points of the EU lead, 24-19. Tommy Pinegar and Isaac Wootton helped Evangel push their lead back out to double digits, as both hit three pointers to make the EU lead 15 points, 37-22. The Saints fought back in the half, as EU led by 11 points at the halftime break, 54-33.

The Evangel offense scored 71 points to CCC's 38 in the second half, running away with the game late. Several Valor athletes recorded mini runs on their own, as Evangel eclipsed the century mark on a Luke Foster basket. Dane Foster would close out scoring for Evangel in the ballgame, as he hit a three pointer to solidify Evangel's 125-81 win on Monday.

QUOTABLE 

"It was good to finally play a real game. I thought we did some things well, but also have a lot of things we need to work on," head coach Bert Capel stated. "We'll learn from it and move on to the next."

NOTABLE 

• Garrett Davault led EU with 17 points in the win on Monday.

• Jacob Lafferty pulled down a team high eight rebounds.

• Ty Campbell and Isaac Wootton passed off a team high five assists.

• Drew McMillin (16 pts.), Luke Foster (14 pts.), Bryce Ware (12 pts.), Wootton (11 pts.), Tommy Pinegar (11 pts.), and Campbell (10 pts.) rounded out double digit scoring for EU.

• The Valor made 17 three pointers in the win on Monday.

Evangel Men's Basketball hits the road, taking part in the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic in Olathe, Kansas, taking on Dordt and Central Baptist, two teams who opened the season receiving votes in the top 25 poll. Games begin at 5:30 p.m. on October 30th and 31st.
