SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Men's Basketball opens their 69th season of competition on Monday (Oct. 27) night, taking on the Central Christian College of the Bible Saints at 7:00 p.m. in AGFinancial Arena.
Please note, all seating in AGFinancial Arena is general admission EXCEPT seats marked with a black Evangel sticker that has the name of season ticket holders. Any individual sitting in a marked seat will be asked to move to an open, unpurchased seat. Season Passes remain on sale until tip-off of the first women's basketball contest (Oct. 30th @ 5:30 PM).

Evangel and CCC of the Bible will match up for the first time in program history on Monday night.
OPENING STORYLINES

Evangel is coming off a 13-16 season in 2024-25, falling in the KCAC Conference Tournament Quarterfinals to top-seeded Oklahoma Wesleyan.

Evangel returns six athletes who averaged over 10 minutes a game last season, led by all-conference performer Garrett Davault, who led Evangel with 15.7 points per game and a team high 5.1 rebounds per contest.

Newcomers for Evangel include collegiate transfers Drew McMillin (NCAA D-II SBU), Tommy Pinegar (NCAA D-I Missouri State), and Jacob Lafferty (NCAA D-II CSU-Pueblo), all of which are locals to the area.

Head Coach Bert Capel opens his fifth season as head coach with a record of 79-46, taking wins in season openers in all four seasons.

CCC of the Bible has not played a countable contest as of 10/27, but did take on Columbia in an exhibition match, falling 66-134, on the road.

Evangel boasts a 1,034-927 overall record since beginning the program in the late 50s.
LOOKING AHEAD
Evangel travels to Olathe, Kansas, to take part in the Jeff Uphaus Memorial Classic, taking on the Dordt Defenders and the Central Baptist Mustangs, both teams who were receiving votes in the opening Top 25 poll, on Thursday and Friday (Oct. 30/31) at 5:30 p.m.
