SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Men's Basketball hits the road and opens 2025 with a conference matchup against McPherson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 4) afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel will take on McPherson in their third all-time matchup, as both teams are tied all-time, 1-1. The Valor were victorious in their matchup on the road last season, 97-88.
OPENING STORYLINES

Evangel fell in their final non-conference game of the season, 83-94, against Missouri Baptist, after the Spartans shot 51.7 percent from the floor.

Halfway through the season, Evangel is led by junior Garrett Davault in scoring, as the Norwood native averages 15.1 points per game for the Valor.

Manrique Alvarado (11.8 ppg) and Josh Mason (11.7 ppg) round out double digit averages for Evangel, while Carson Cavalier leads the team in three point makes (33) so far this season.

Evangel will look to improve defensively in the second half of the season as the Valor currently allow their opponents to shoot 47 percent from the floor.

Looking at the Evangel record book, currently Manrique Alvarado is 7th in assists (383), tied for 11th in 3-point makes (168), 22nd in steals (12), and 31st in points (1131). Stephen Salvi currently is 31st in 3-point makes (91) and 38th in rebounds (413). Carson Cavalier rounds our honorees in the record book, currently 34th in 3-point makes (87).
LOOKING AHEAD
Evangel will return home to host the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Wednesday, Jan. 8th, at 7:30 p.m. in AGFinancial Arena. Wednesday's matchup will be broadcast by Mediacom22.
