FULTON, Mo. – Valor Women's Soccer headed to Fulton, Missouri, on Wednesday (Sept. 4) evening, looking to battle with the William Woods Owls. Both teams were in search of their second win of the season and ultimately, William Woods would score a pair of goals to distance themselves from the Valor, as EU fell, 2-0, in full time.
Evangel's offense was only able to generate four shots in the first half, as the Valor put forth a strong defensive effort to keep the Owls off the board for most of the first half. At the 18:35 mark, Maddy Wanner took a shot that was stopped by the Owls keeper, Evangel's first shot on goal in the game. William Woods took a 1-0 lead at the 31:40 mark in the first half, but the Valor offense nearly had their equalizer near the end of the first half when both Ava Campbell and Liyah Collins put shots on goal, that the William Woods goalkeeper stopped, as WWU took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Valor played a strong second half, generating several chances that unfortunately did not go their way this afternoon. Evangel matched their first half shot total just 18 minutes into the second half, after Campbell nearly tied the game up in the first few minutes of the half. WWU added another goal at the 66:04 mark and the Valor offense continued to fight, earning several corner kicks in the half, but were unable to capitalize, falling 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

QUOTABLE
"I'm disappointed in the result, but not disappointed in our overall play. We came out very strong in the second half and created several quality chances to equalize. We just need to keep working to convert the chances we create. We will keep working on that part of our game," Women's Soccer Head Coach Bruce Deaton stated. "Honestly, we defended quite well except for two instances for balls played in from width. Both areas of challenge this evening are quite fixable and what we will focus on moving forward. This team is strong and is definitely moving in the right direction. We showed that throughout the match, admittedly some portions were better than others."
