Location: St. Louis, Mo. (St. Louis University HS Soccer Field)

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Valor Men's Soccer traveled to St. Louis on Wednesday (Sept. 4) evening, taking on the UHSP Eutectics in their first road match of the season. Looking to continue their winning ways, Evangel jumped on the Eutectics early, scoring a goal in the first minute of the game, setting the tone in a runaway 6-0 victory.

Evangel came out fast to open the game, putting offensive pressure on the UHSP defense. Eneh Chibozor continued his strong start to the year, netting a goal in the first 53 seconds of Wednesday's match, his fourth of the season. The Valor kept the pressure on the Eutectics and at the 26:12 mark, Chibozor passed a ball through a trio of defenders that found Juyong Kim all alone in goal, scoring his second of the season to put Evangel ahead, 2-0. The Valor offense did not stop there, as Igor Ovcarevic used a nice pass to Raphael Sende, who scored goal number three for Evangel with less than five minutes left in the first half. After Micah Siems was fouled in the box, Ovcarevic took the penalty shot, scoring the fourth goal of the half just a minute and 20 seconds after the last goal, putting EU out in front, 4-0, at the halftime break.

The Valor defense continued their strong play in the second half and again Evangel found the scoreboard. This time it was Franco Cuevas who did the scoring, putting a goal on the board at the 53:21 mark of the game. Akari Sydney wrapped up scoring for Evangel as a pass from Caleb Burton found his feet, putting the Valor ahead, 6-0, with 21 minutes remaining in the game. Evangel's defense closed the game out, earning the team a third consecutive clean sheet in the 6-0 win on Wednesday.

HIGHLIGHTS

QUOTABLE

"Our team started out fast and ready to play. We've been talking about having the right mentality from the start of the match until the last whistle. We were able to take advantage of a defensive mistake in the first minute of the game. Chibozor stole it and made a fast break and placed it well past the keeper," Men's Soccer Head Coach Kyle Beard stated. "The rest of the half, our team really tried to focus on playing our best game and playing together. Our focus is to play consistently, no matter who we play, and our guys did that well tonight."
