Valor MBB Prepped for Crucial Conference Matchup at McPherson

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball takes on the McPherson Bulldogs on Wednesday (Feb. 7) evening in a crucial conference matchup as the winner will take sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., as Evangel looks to take their fifth consecutive victory and continue their hot streak.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and McPherson match up for just the second time in program history as the Valor trail, 0-1, after falling by two points earlier this season.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel opens a two game road trip on Wednesday (Feb. 7) afternoon, taking on the McPherson Bulldogs in a crucial matchup for conference rankings.

  • Valor Men's Basketball narrowly defeated the York Panthers on Saturday, 83-80, taking their fourth consecutive win of the season.

  • Evangel currently has winning records in every month of play except October (0-1) and January (4-5).

  • Garrett Davault led the Valor with 23 points in the win over York on Saturday.

  • Manrique Alvarado scored 17 points in the win, passing off six assists.

  • Josh Pritchett and Jace Coffie rounded out double digit scoring on Saturday, scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively.

  • Four Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 15.2 points per game.

  • The Valor have had a strong offense so far this season, averaging 82.0 points per game and shooting 48.0 percent from the floor, but are allowing 79.1 points per game.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (506), third in steals (209), 5th in scoring (1,875), 6th in blocks (73), as well as 6th in three point makes (210).

  • Evangel's win against the York Panthers was the second all-time in program history, as EU leads it, 2-0.

  • Evangel currently sits tied for fourth in the KCAC with McPherson. With a win on Wednesday against the Bulldogs, the Valor would take sole possession of fourth place.

  • The Valor will conclude their road trip on Saturday afternoon in Kansas City, taking on the Avila Eagles.
