Valor MBB Hosts #4 OKWU in Critical Conference Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball competes in their final regular season home game of the year and honor seniors at the last dance event on Saturday (Feb. 24) evening, taking on the #4 Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles.

Tip-off for Saturday's game is set for 3:00 p.m. as the Valor look to pull off the upset victory over the nationally ranked Eagles. Tickets to Saturday's game are sold out and no tickets will be sold at the door. A free overflow screening of the game will take place next door of the Ashcroft Center in the Mabee Center on Saturday. Broadcast for Saturday's game will be broadcast by Mediacom22.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and OKWU match up for the 18th time in program history on Saturday, as OKWU leads the series by a slim margin, 9-8. The last time Evangel and OKWU faced off in the Ashcroft Center, the Valor took the win, 73-68.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel looks to bounce back on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon as they host the 4th ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles at 3:00 p.m. in the final regular season match in the Ashcroft Center.

  • Valor Men's Basketball had their eight game winning streak broken on Wednesday, falling to Ottawa in an imperative game, 69-70.

  • Evangel is currently 5-1 in the month of February with just one regular season games remaining.

  • Josh Pritchett had a strong game for Evangel on Wednesday, scoring 19 points to lead the Valor.

  • Josh Mason (11 pts.), and Manrique Alvarado (10 pts.) rounded out double digit scoring for the Valor on Wednesday.

  • Evangel shot just 27.6 percent in the second half of Wednesday's loss.

  • Four Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 15.8 points per game.

  • The Valor are 0-2 this season in games where they have scored under 70 points.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (539) and steals (224), 4th in scoring (1,977), 5th in three point makes (213), as well as 6th in blocks (76).

  • Evangel's loss to Ottawa is their second to the Braves all-time and this season.

  • Opponents shoot the most three pointers against the Valor defense in the KCAC, as Evangel has had 735 three pointers shot against them. (Next closest is OKWU with 693.)

  • Evangel averages the second most points per game in the KCAC this year, currently at 82.3 points per game.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball has clinched the four seed in the KCAC conference tournament and will host at 7:00 p.m. next Thursday (Feb. 29) evening against the five seed, to be determined. Tickets will go on sale on Sunday (Feb. 25) morning.
