Valor MBB Puts Eight Game Winning Streak on the Line at Ottawa

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball competes in their final regular season road game of the year on Wednesday (Feb. 21) evening, taking on the Ottawa Braves.

Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m., as Evangel looks to avoid the season sweep and earn their ninth consecutive win.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and Ottawa will match up for the second time in program history on Wednesday, as the Valor trail, 0-1, after falling at home earlier this year, 81-90.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel puts their eight game winning streak on the line on Wednesday (Feb. 21) evening, as the Valor travel to take on the Ottawa Braves.

  • Valor Men's Basketball earned their eighth consecutive win on Saturday, taking down the Sterling College Warriors, 82-60.

  • Evangel is currently 5-0 in the month of February with just two regular season games remaining.

  • Josh Pritchett had a strong game for Evangel on Saturday, scoring 19 points to lead the Valor.

  • Garrett Davault (12 pts.), and Josh Mason (11 pts.) rounded out double digit scoring for the Valor on Saturday.

  • Evangel shot just under 50 percent from the floor in the win on Saturday. (49.1)

  • Four Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 15.7 points per game.

  • The Valor have had a strong offense so far this season, averaging 82.8 points per game and shooting 48.9 percent from the floor, but are allowing 77.9 points per game.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (532) and steals (219), 4th in scoring (1,958), 6th in blocks (74), as well as in three point makes (212).

  • Evangel's win against the Sterling Warriors was the 3rd all-time in program history, as Evangel leads, 3-2. The win was Bert Capel's first over the Warriors, after starting his career 0-2 against Sterling.

  • Opponents shoot the most three pointers against the Valor defense in the KCAC, as Evangel has had 710 three pointers shot against them. (Next closest is OKWU with 676.)

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball competes in their final regular season match of the year, hosting the #4 Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Saturday (Feb. 24) afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in their final regular season game in the Ashcroft Center.
