SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Women's Soccer returned home after a long road trip, hosting the Tabor Bluejays on Saturday (Oct. 5) evening, in search of their second conference win of the season. Evangel's offense found their rhythm, scoring three goals in a shutout win, 3-0.
The Valor got on the board early against Tabor, scoring on their first shot attempt of the game when McKenzie Calhoun scored her second goal of the season at the 6:20 mark of the first half, giving EU a 1-0 lead. The Valor defense held strong against Tabor's offense, denying a pair of shots and corners from their attack. On Evangel's second shot attempt of the evening, Sophia Weeks was able to break through after a strong pass from Grayson Murphy found her feet, putting the Valor ahead, 2-0. Evangel and Tabor battled the remainder of the half with EU leading, 2-0, at the break.
Similar to the first half, Evangel once again scored early, as Alece Hershey scored her first goal of the year on a pass from Sophia Week, extending the Valor lead to 3-0. Although Tabor found chances in the second half, the Valor turned every single one away, and nearly extended their lead even more, missing on very close shot attempts. By the time the final horn sounded, Evangel had taken a 3-0 win and their second consecutive conference win of the season.
