BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Valor Men's Soccer traveled to Oklahoma on Wednesday, taking on the second ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles, looking to pull off an upset against one of the best teams in America. Unfortunately for EU, OKWU's offense scored several goals, as EU could not mount a comeback, falling 6-0.
The Eagles scored quickly, taking a 1-0 lead at the 1:56 mark of the game. Evangel's first opportunity came on a corner from Sebastian Molina that did not find a Valor player, as EU trailed 3-0 at that point. Caleb Kuchta earned Evangel's one chance of the first half, nearly scoring to close the first half, but a save from the OKWU goalie kept EU off the scoreboard, trailing 4-0 at the break.
The Valor offense ramped up in the second half, with shots from Ruben Gonzalez and Ted Okoroh nearly finding the back of the net, but again the Eagles keeper made saves to keep Evangel from scoring. Chris Tadeo also recorded a shot in the late moments of the second half, but his shot was too high for the goal, as EU could not generate any offensive scores, falling 6-0 on Wednesday.
