Valor MBB Looks to Upset Eighth Ranked OKWU on Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball travels to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on Wednesday (Jan. 10) evening, to take on the eighth ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., at the Mueller Sports Center with the Valor looking to bounce back in a big way against the nationally ranked and conference leading Eagles.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and OKWU will match up for the 17th time in program history on Wednesday. The all-time matchup between both squads currently stands at 8-8 with Wednesday's win giving the winner an advantage in the series.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel returns to the road on Wednesday (Jan. 10) afternoon to take on the eighth nationally ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles at 7:30 p.m.

  • Valor Men's Basketball fell on Saturday (Jan. 6) afternoon in their return to the Ashcroft to Ottawa, 81-90.

  • Wednesday's matchup with Oklahoma Wesleyan is the 17th between both teams in program history, as the Valor took the win in the lone matchup last season, 73-68.

  • Garrett Davault scored his career high on Saturday, leading Evangel with 19 points in the loss against Ottawa.

  • Josh Pritchett (14 pts.), Jace Coffie (12 pts.), Carson Cavalier (11 pts.), and Josh Mason (10 pts.), recorded double digit scoring for the Valor against the Braves.

  • Four Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 14.5 points per game.

  • The Valor have had a strong offense so far this season, averaging 82.2 points per game and shooting 48.1 percent from the floor.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (465), 4th in steals (196), 5th in scoring (1,743), 7th in blocks (66), as well as 8th in three point makes (193).

  • Evangel's loss against Ottawa was the first all-time against the Braves, as Ottawa leads the series, 1-0.

  • The Valor will compete in their fifth road conference game of the season on Wednesday, looking to rebound from their two-game losing streak.

  • Evangel is outscoring opponents by 5.2 points per game and has an assist to turnover ratio of 1.3.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball concludes their week of road matchups on Saturday (Jan. 13) afternoon, traveling to Leavenworth, Kansas, to take on the Saint Mary Spires at 4:00 p.m.
