Box ScoreÂ
HILLSBORO, Kan. -- Valor Men's Basketball hit the road on Saturday, taking on the Tabor Bluejays in search of their second consecutive victory. A strong shooting night helped push the Valor to a 11-point victory, 86-75, moving the Valor to above .500 on the season.
Evangel opened Saturday's game firing on all cylinders, hitting their first nine shots over the first nine minutes of the game, taking an early 22-11 lead over the Bluejays. A Josh Pritchett jumper with 2:11 remaining in the first half gave the Valor their largest lead of the first half, 37-19. Pritchett scored 15 points to lead Evangel at the halftime break, as EU took a 37-22 lead into the break.
Garrett Davault had a strong second half, scoring 13 points in the half, to help keep the Valor ahead of the Bluejays. After maintaining a double digit lead for the first 10 minutes of the second half, a Davault floater would give Evangel their largest lead of the afternoon, 70-49, against the home Bluejays. Tabor would begin to press for the last seven minutes of the game, forcing a few Evangel turnovers and drawing their deficit down, but Evangel's strong defensive first half and hot shooting night helped the Valor take a 86-75 victory on the road, to earn their second straight win.
QUOTABLEÂ
"Winning games on the road are tough. I thought we started the game with some toughness, but I'm disappointed we didn't handle our lead well in the second half," head coach Bert Capel stated. "I'm glad we finished the game with a win!"
