Valor MBB Hosts Friends on Wednesday Evening

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball returns home on Wednesday (Jan. 24) evening to play host to the Friends Falcons.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., in the Ashcroft Center, as Evangel looks to bounce back after falling to nationally ranked Southwestern on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and Friends have faced off twice in program history, as EU leads the series, 2-0, taking their most recent win over the Falcons back in 2008, 90-68, in Springfield.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel takes on the Friends Falcons back at home on Wednesday (Jan. 24) evening at 7:30 p.m.

  • Valor Men's Basketball fell to ninth ranked Southwestern College on Saturday, 78-86, after a tough fight against a strong KCAC squad.

  • The month of January has not been friendly to the Valor, as they are currently 1-5, but can still finish 4-5, with three consecutive wins.

  • Manrique Alvarado led the Valor in scoring on Saturday, finishing with 17 pts., his third game this season leading EU in scoring.

  • Josh Pritchett (15 pts.), Bryce Hunt and Carson Cavalier (11 pts.) and Jace Coffie (10 pts.) recorded double digit scoring for the Valor against the nationally ranked Moundbuilders.

  • Three Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 14.4 points per game.

  • The Valor have had a strong offense so far this season, averaging 80.9 points per game and shooting 47.4 percent from the floor, but are allowing 79.2 points per game.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (487), 4th in steals (200), 5th in scoring (1,800), 7th in blocks (72), as well as 8th in three point makes (201).

  • Evangel's loss against Southwestern on Saturday was the first all-time against the Moundbuilders, as EU is now 0-1 against SWC.

  • The Valor will compete in their sixth home conference game of the season on Wednesday, continuing their streak of Wednesday night home games.

  • Evangel will look to move back to .500 overall on the season and continue to climb the conference rankings, as they currently sit in fifth in the KCAC.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball travels to Hillsboro, Kansas, on Saturday (Jan. 27) afternoon, to take on the Tabor Bluejays at 4:00 p.m.
