Valor MBB Returns Home to Host Bethel on Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball plays host to the Bethel Threshers on Wednesday (Jan. 17) evening, looking to rebound from their current losing streak.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., in the Ashcroft Center with Wednesday night's broadcast being provided by Mediacom22.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and Bethel will match up for the fourth time in program history on Wednesday, with the Valor leading the matchup, 3-0. The Valor last matched up with the Threshers back in the 2007-08 season with Evangel taking the win, 74-40, in Wichita, Kansas.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel takes on the Bethel Threshers on Wednesday (Jan. 17) evening, in the Ashcroft Center at 7:30 p.m.

  • Valor Men's Basketball fell on Saturday (Jan. 13) afternoon in the conclusion of their road trip against Saint Mary, 78-87.

  • The month of January has not been friendly to the Valor, as they are currently 0-4, but can still finish the month above .500, by winning out.

  • Garrett Davault scored his career high on Saturday, leading Evangel with 22 points in the loss against Saint Mary.

  • Josh Pritchett and Broc Smith (13 pts.) recorded double digit scoring for the Valor against the Spires.

  • Three Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 13.7 points per game.

  • The Valor have had a strong offense so far this season, averaging 80.2 points per game and shooting 47.4 percent from the floor, but are allowing 78.2 points per game.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (474), 4th in steals (198), 5th in scoring (1,761), 7th in blocks (68), as well as 8th in three point makes (194).

  • Evangel's loss against Saint Mary was the first all-time against the Spires, as Saint Mary now leads the series, 1-0.

  • The Valor will compete in their fourth home conference game of the season on Wednesday, looking to rebound from their four-game losing streak.

  • Evangel is outscoring opponents by 2.0 points per game and has an assist to turnover ratio of 1.2.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball will head to Winfield, Kansas, on Saturday (Jan. 20) afternoon to take on the 6th ranked Southwestern College Moundbuilders at 4:00 p.m.
