SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Soccer kicked off their home schedule of games on Thursday (Sept. 7) evening, taking on the Ozark Christian College Ambassadors. Offense was a big factor in tonight's game for Evangel, scoring five goals en route to a 5-0 shutout over OCC.

The Valor kept strong offensive pressure on the Ambassadors defense throughout the beginning of the first half. Evangel found their first goal in the game at the 21:10 mark when Ted Okoroh passed the ball off to newcomer Caleb Kuchta, who recorded the first goal of his career, just 20 minutes from where he played high school soccer, putting EU up 1-0. Just 38 seconds later and Ted Okoroh recorded the second goal of the game, off a pass from Eneh Chibozor. The Valor continued their strong offensive play as Andrew Flippin scored a goal less than three minutes later, putting EU ahead, 3-0. Evangel would not stop their offensive barrage, as Amari Forbes scored his first goal at EU just a minute and a half later, pushing Evangel ahead, 4-0. EU held the score heading into the halftime break.

Evangel maintained strong defensive pressure in the second half and were able to keep their offensive pace high, keeping OCC's rhythm off. After 32 minutes of scoreless play, a handball in the box awarded Sebastian Molina with a penalty kick that he converted, putting the Valor ahead, 5-0. Evangel's strong defense maintained their play to the finish as both Anthony Morales and Tatenda Kahwena combined for the clean sheet in the 5-0 shutout.

HIGHLIGHTS

Ted Okoroh retook the Valor lead for goals scored this season, currently with four.
