Valor MBB Looks to Rebound Against Avila on Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel Valor Men's Basketball team plays host to the Avila Eagles on Wednesday (Dec. 6) afternoon, looking to rebound from their loss on Saturday to McPherson.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., in the Ashcroft Center with the broadcast being produced by Mediacom22.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and Avila will match up for the 69th time in program history on Wednesday, after both were conference foes in the Heart of America Conference, as Evangel leads the matchup, 49-19. Evangel is currently on a two game losing streak to Avila, falling 76-90 in their last matchup (Feb. 7, 2018).

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel concludes their home stay on Wednesday (Dec. 6) evening, taking on the Avila Eagles. Broadcast for Wednesday's game is brought by Mediacom22.

  • Valor Men's Basketball dominated for the majority of Saturday's game against McPherson, but fell after scoring just five points in the final six minutes of the game, 81-83.

  • Wednesday's matchup with Avila will be the 69th meeting between the two schools as both teams have a history competing in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

  • Josh Pritchett led Evangel with 16 points in the loss on Saturday.

  • Manrique Alvarado (13 pts.), Garrett Davault (13 pts.), and Jace Coffie (11 pts.) all scored in double digits on Saturday.

  • Jace Coffie leads the Valor in points per game off the bench, currently with 12.3 points per game this season.

  • Head Coach Bert Capel looks to grab his 50th career win and his first win against the Eagles of Avila.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 3rd in Evangel history in assists (436), 4th in steals (187), 7th in blocks (64) and scoring (1,675) as well as 9th in three point makes (188).

  • Evangel's loss against McPherson on Saturday was the first all-time to the Bulldogs, as EU trails, 0-1.

  • The Valor will compete in their third home conference game of the season on Wednesday.

  • Evangel has shot 48.5 percent from the floor so far this season, currently averaging 83.6 points per game.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball will travel to Lindsborg, Kansas, on Saturday (Dec. 9) afternoon to take on the Bethany Swedes at 2:00 p.m.
