SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball led from start to finish Saturday pulling away from McPherson 81-48 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
The Valor used a strong second quarter to extend its lead before halftime. Evangel took a 46-22 lead into the locker room after holding the Bulldogs to just seven points in the second quarter.
Evangel shot 80 percent from the free throw line as McPherson shot just 60 percent. The Valor also forced 23 turnovers and committed just 11 to improve to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.
Lydia Babirye led the Valor in scoring with 17 points, while
Kate Gilbert added 14 and
Kamie Jenkins tallied 10 to finish in double figures. Babirye pulled down four rebounds, while Gilbert and Jenkins finished with five boards each.
The Valor led by as many as 38 points midway through the fourth quarter as the Evangel defense held McPherson to just 32 percent shooting on the afternoon. Evangel also out-rebounded the Bulldogs 46-36
Jade Hinzman led Evangel in rebounding with six, while adding five points.
McPherson was led by Madelyn Hankins with 20 points and three rebounds.

Evangel continues KCAC play at home Wednesday, Dec. 6 against Avila. Tipoff from the Ashcroft Center is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
