WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. -- The Evangel women's basketball team used a strong second half to pull away from Williams Baptist, 75-52, Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
The Valor inched above the .500 mark improving to 5-4 on the season while Williams Baptist fell to 6-3 on the year. Evangel shot over 50 percent in the second half while holding the Eagles to just 15 percent shooting in the fourth quarter.
Carson Dillard and Lydia Babirye led the Valor with 15 points each. Kamie Jenkins finished with a double-double scoring 13 points and pulling down 18 rebounds helping Evangel dominate inside. EU out-rebounded WBU, 58-38.
Evangel led by three at the break, 30-27, as Dillard knocked down a three-pointer to start the second half and propel the Valor run.
The Valor finished strong from the free throw line going 17 of 25, while the Eagles shot just 58 percent from the stripe going 10 of 17. Evangel also held WBU to just 28 percent shooting for the game.
