OKLAHOMA CITY -- A balanced attack from the Evangel men's basketball team resulted in an 82-75 non-conference victory Thursday afternoon at MidAmerica Christian University.
The Valor won its third straight as they improved to 7-4 on the season while the Evangels fell to 5-4 overall.
Evangel used an 11-4 run over the final 4:30 of the first half to build a 33-29 lead at intermission. Josh Mason and Josh Pritchett each hit a three-pointer followed by back-to-back three's from Carson Cavalier to push the lead to four.
Pritchett led Evangel with 17 points, while Mason added 15 points and was 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Cavalier added 10 points off the bench for EU.
The second half Evangel continued solid defense and hot shooting to hold off MACU. Evangel forced 18 turnovers and held MACU to just 36 percent from the field.
NOTABLE
· Six Evangel players finished in double figures. Manrique Alvarado added 12 points, Bryce Hunt added 14 points, Garrett Davault finished with 14 points. Pritchett led the way with 17 points, Mason tallied 15 points and Cavalier added 10 points.
· Evangel shot 42 percent from the field.
· The Valor committed just seven turnovers in the win.
· Evangel shot 84 percent from the free throw line going 21 for 25. It was the second highest free throw percentage for EU this season.
