Valor MBB Concludes 2023 Against MACU on Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Basketball concludes the year of 2023 taking on the MidAmerica Christian University Evangels in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Thursday (Dec. 14) afternoon.

Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m., at the Gaulke Activity Center with the Valor looking to grab their third consecutive victory and break their non-conference losing streak.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and MACU will match up for the sixth time in program history, as both teams played four times in the years 1975-1976. Evangel leads the all-time series, 4-1, taking their last win over the Evangels in 2012, 88-85, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel travels to Oklahoma City on Thursday (Dec. 14) afternoon, looking to take on the MidAmerica Christian Evangels in their fifth and final non-conference match of the year.

  • Valor Men's Basketball used a strong defensive first half against Bethany, allowing the Swedes just 13 points in the first half, en route to their victory on Saturday.

  • Wednesday's matchup with MACU is the sixth between both teams in program history.

  • Garrett Davault led Evangel with 16 points in the win on Saturday in his first collegiate start.

  • Jace Coffie (15 pts.), Bryce Hunt (14 pts.), Logan Rodgers and Josh Pritchett (10 pts.) rounded out double digit scoring for the Valor on Saturday.

  • Three Valor athletes average double digit scoring so far this season, with Josh Pritchett leading the charge with 14.0 points per game.

  • The Valor have shot over fifty percent in the last four consecutive matchups, including 55.9 percent in their last win.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 2nd in Evangel history in assists (448), 4th in steals (190), 6th in scoring (1,695), 7th in blocks (65), as well as 9th in three point makes (188).

  • Evangel's win against Bethany on Saturday was the first all-time against the Swedes, as EU leads, 1-0.

  • The Valor will compete in their third road non-conference game of the season on Thursday.

  • Evangel has shot 50 percent from the floor so far this season, currently averaging 83.1 points per game.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Men's Basketball will enjoy their Christmas break, returning to play on January 3rd against conference opponent Sterling in Sterling, Kansas, at 8:00 p.m.
