KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the ninth edition of the coaches Top 25 poll released on Monday, Valor Football moved up a spot, now ranked ninth overall in the nation.
Evangel opened the season receiving votes, but after winning three consecutive games, moved to 25th in the nation. After recording a 59-42 victory over Saint Mary, Evangel moved up to 20th. A 27-21 victory over Ottawa pushed the Valor forward to 18th in the nation as Evangel remained at #18 after a 44-6 victory over Avila. After an Evangel bye week featured several top 20 teams losing, the Valor moved up to #15 in the national poll. Evangel then defeated Bethany, 34-11, helping the Valor move up to #13. After a dominant defensive performance resulted in a 20-11 victory over the 25th ranked Friends Falcons, EU jumped a spot to #12. After a 17-7 defensive battle victory over McPherson, Evangel moved up to #10. The Valor defeated #24 Southwestern on Saturday in a thriller, 17-14, moving Evangel up to #9.
In the KCAC, Friends re-entered the top 25, being named #24 while Southwestern dropped out of the top 25 and is currently receiving votes.
Valor Football takes on the Bethel Threshers at home on Saturday (Nov. 11) afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Nixa, Mo., for senior day and for the Kessinger Division Championship.
