Valor MBB Travels to Salina for Matchup Against Kansas Wesleyan

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel Valor Men's Basketball team travels to Salina, Kansas, on Saturday (Nov. 18) evening, taking on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes.

Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m., in Mabee Arena as both teams look to remain perfect in conference play after both earning wins on Wednesday evening.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel and Kansas Wesleyan match up for the first time in program history on Saturday.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Valor Men's Basketball defeated the Tabor Bluejays on Wednesday, 94-57, at home in their conference opener.

  • Evangel hits the road to take on the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes, who were picked to finish second in the conference in the preseason poll.

  • Saturday's matchup with Kansas Wesleyan will be the first meeting between the two schools, as neither team has faced one another in EU history.

  • Josh Mason led Evangel with 17 points on Wednesday in the dominant conference opening win.

  • Josh Pritchett (14), Jace Coffie (11), and Manrique Alvarado (10) also recorded double digit scoring on Wednesday.

  • Jace Coffie continues to play a huge factor in games off the bench, currently leading Evangel in points per game off the bench this season, averaging 12.5.

  • Head Coach Bert Capel looks to grab his 48th career win and his first win against the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan.

  • Pritchett ranks in the EU record book in several different categories. Josh currently is 4th in Evangel history in assists (420) and steals (182), as well as 9th in three point makes (182), 10th in blocks (57), and 12th in scoring (1,616)

  • Evangel's win on Wednesday was the Valor's 4th win to Tabor in program history, making the all-time record against the Bluejays dead even, 4-4.

  • Saturday's matchup will be the first road conference match of the season and will open a three game road trip for Evangel.

  • Evangel is shooting exactly 50 percent from the floor this season and is hitting 40.9 percent of their threes.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel hits the road next Tuesday (Nov. 21) evening against Columbia College, in Columbia, Missouri at 7:00 p.m.
