LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Valor Men's Soccer capped off their road trip with a matchup against the Saint Mary Spires on Wednesday (Oct. 4) evening, looking to take another victory in conference play. Although Evangel would score the first goal of the match, Saint Mary would find an equalizer in the first half, as neither team generated many offensive chances in the second half, leading to a 1-1 tie between the Valor and Spires on Wednesday.

Evangel's offense would be held in check for the first half of the first half on Wednesday. On Evangel's first shot attempt of the evening, Igor Ovcarevic found the back of the net on a tough cross goal shot, set up by Ted Okoroh, to give EU a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute. Just five minutes later, Saint Mary scored the equalizer, making it a 1-1 ballgame with 58 minutes still to play in the entirety of the match. EU would not record another shot after the Spires goal in the first half as the defense kept Saint Mary from a second goal, taking a 1-1 tie into the halftime break.

The Valor offense ramped up their pressure in the second half using a pair of shots from Ted Okoroh to keep pressure on the Spires back line. In the 79th minute, Ovcarevic nearly scored his second goal of the evening, but a save by the Spires keeper kept EU from finding the game winner, as neither team could score in the second half, leading to a 1-1 draw against Saint Mary.
