SALINA, Kan. – The Valor WBB team matched up with Coyote Classic host, Kansas Wesleyan, on Saturday afternoon. Looking to rebound from their loss the day before, the Valor would fight hard but ultimately fall to the Coyotes, 62-78.

In the first quarter, it became clear that the Valor and the Coyotes would be in for a tightly contested afternoon. Every EU basket was matched by a basket for KWU. By the end of the first quarter, EU would trail the Coyotes, 16-20. Alexis Cauthon would lead EU with 5 points in the quarter, while KWU's Lamyah Ricks would also score 5 in the frame.

The second quarter consisted of more back and forth play between both teams. KWU would grab a 31-36 lead, but a five point run by Cauthon and Mullings would keep the score close as EU trailed 36-38 at the half. Cauthon would lead all scorers with 10 points at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Coyotes begin to expand a lead, as EU began to grow cold from the floor. Consecutive misses by the Valor in the middle of the third as well as hot shooting from KWU would allow the Coyotes to push out to an eleven point lead. Thanks to an Alexis Roach buzzer beater layup, EU would only trail by single digits by the end of the third quarter, 48-57.

In the fourth, it looked as if the Valor would be able to make a comeback against the Coyotes. EU would cut the KWU lead down to only five, thanks to a 4-0 run. Trailing 60-65, the comeback hopes would fade, as EU would go cold from the field. KWU would end the game on a 13-2 run, to take the game from the Valor, 62-78.

Cauthon led all scorers, finishing the game with 19 points. Harman would also contribute double digit scoring, finishing with 11 points. Gabby Mureeba would lead the Coyotes with 16 points.
