SALINA, Kan. – The Valor WBB team headed to Salina, Kansas to compete in the Coyote Classic, hosted by Kansas Wesleyan University. The Valor's first matchup of the weekend would come against a tough Bethany Swedes squad, who would ultimately take the win from the Valor, 67-84.

To begin the afternoon, it was Bethany's Kisa Unruh who would push Bethany out to an early advantage, thanks to three consecutive threes. Down 10-18 with 3:22 remaining in the first quarter, the Valor would go on a 10-4 run, fueled by two consecutive threes by Kohnnar Patton, to trail 20-22 when the buzzer would sound. Patton would lead all EU scorers with 8 points at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Bethany would extend their two point lead thanks to hot three point shooting as EU would cool down, only shooting 6-18 (33.3%) in the second quarter, while Bethany would shoot 10-14 (71.4%). By the halftime break, the Valor trailed the Swedes, 34-45. Bayley Harman would lead all scorers with 16 while Unruh would lead Bethany with 13. 

The third quarter saw the Swedes begin to break things open, as EU continued their shooting woes. As much as the Valor would try to fight back, the Swedes would have an answer at every EU score. The Swedes would end up only winning the quarter by a point, putting the game at 50-65 heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth, EU needed to make a run to try to cut down Bethany's lead. A 5-0 run off of a Alexis Roach jumper and a Abby Wildermuth three would be just what EU needed. Unfortunately, Bethany would not allow EU to ever push the game back to a single digit deficit. Bethany would continue streaks of scoring with no EU baskets, as the Valor had a cold shooting day. The Swedes would take the win, 67-84.

Harman would lead all Evangel scorers with 20 points off of 8-12 shooting. Patton would also contribute double digit scoring with 10 points. Zoey Mullings would finish the evening with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Leading all scorers was Bethany's Unruh with 25 points.
