SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball capped a comeback victory Wednesday night, 72-69 over Culver-Stockton in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.
The Crusaders trailed by as many as 13 early in the second half, however, an 11-2 run to start the third quarter saw Evangel take the lead with 5:15 left in the third quarter. After a putback from Emma Lander, Brianna Vogts hit a jumper to make it 47-45.
Culver-Stockton would rally back to take a brief lead in the fourth with 4:26 left but Evangel would take the lead for good with 1:20 left on a three-pointer from Mackenzie Farmer. Farmer would also make a crucial block with seven seconds left to help seal the Crusader win.
Kylee Moore led Evangel with a season-high 23 points and four assists while Farmer added 15 points and seven assists. Farmer and Moore both knocked down four three-pointers to help the Crusaders overcome a cold-shooting first half.
The Wildcats out-shot Evangel going 48 percent from the field in the first half but Evangel shot 43 percent in the second half while holding Culver-Stockton to just 30 percent.
Brianna Vogts added a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards off the bench while Lexie Vaught also finished in double figures with 14 points and three steals.
Culver-Stockton was led by Lacey Clark who finished with 17 points.
