SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the Baker Wildcats Wednesday, falling 81-60 in Heart South Division action.

The Crusaders managed to pull within 10 points midway through the second quarter, however, a Baker run pushed the deficit to 41-29 at halftime.

Evangel never was able to regroup as Baker shot 62 percent from the field in the third quarter and 55 percent for the game. Evangel shot just 28 percent in the loss and was 4-of-11 from behind the three-point arc.

Junior Sydnee Garrett crossed the 500-point mark in her first season with Evangel finishing with 23 points. She is the 21st Crusader to reach 500 points in a single-season while also pulling down six rebounds.

Mackenzie Farmer added 11 points and four assists for the Crusaders in the loss.

Baker was led by 16 points each from Jodi Adkins and Caitlin Modesett. Modesett added four boards for the Wildcats.

Evangel travels to Clarke University on Saturday for the regular season finale. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
