SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – In a game that saw 26 lead changes and 18 ties, the Evangel men's basketball came up on the short end Saturday, 94-88, against No. 12-ranked Central Methodist.

Central Methodist saw two chances at the end of the regulation come up short as Evangel held tough in the first overtime. A steal by the Crusaders thwarted the second opportunity for the Eagles after Dylan Bekemeier scored four points in the final five seconds to send the game to a second overtime.

However, CMU finished the second overtime on a 6-0 run after Bekemeier made two free throws with two minutes left. Bekemeier finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

Justin Washington posted a double-double finishing with 28 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.

CMU bested Evangel shooting 86 percent from the free throw line going 32-of-37 while the Crusaders finished 26-of-38 to shoot 68 percent. Both teams struggled from distance shooting below 20 percent and making just four three-pointers each.

The Eagles were led by 29 points from Brian Egejuru who finished 12-of-13 from the free throw line. Terrance Bush added 27 points and 10 boards for CMU.

The Crusaders return to action Wednesday at MidAmerica Nazarene. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
