SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball team was unable to complete a comeback Saturday afternoon falling 77-71 to Central Methodist in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

After trailing 30-23 at halftime the Crusader battled back to take a 59-56 lead with 7:23 left in the game after an Allison Jarrell three-pointer. However, the Eagles went on a 9-0 run over the next four minutes to regain the lead before a free throw from Sydnee Garrett stopped the run.

Garrett again led Evangel with her 10th double-double of the season, adding 26 points and 12 rebounds. Kylee Moore added 16 points as Jarrell and Mackenzie Farmer finished with 13 and 11 points respectively.

DaJonee Hale scored a game-high 28 points to lead CMU.

Evangel rallied behind three-point shooting in the second half. Evangel finished 5-of-12 from behind the arc with four coming in the third and fourth quarters.

The Crusaders return to action Wednesday at MidAmerica Nazarene. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
