SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball team could not overcome slow starts to the first and fourth quarter as they fell to the No. 7 Benedictine Ravens 69-50 in conference action Wednesday night.

There was limited scoring action to start the game for the Crusaders as they shot just 18 percent from the floor resulting in a 24-8 deficit after the first quarter.

Evangel made needed adjustments and significantly slowed down the Ravens offense, allowing just 23 points in the second and third quarters combined. The Crusaders were able to take advantage of the Ravens inconsistent offense and pulled within nine points heading into the fourth quarter.

However, shots began falling again for the Ravens, which ultimately shut down any chance at an Evangel comeback.

The Ravens had three players score in double figures but were led by Kristen Murphy who had a game-high 23 points.

Evangel's Sydnee Garrett recorded her 11th double-double of the season, tallying 20 points and 13 rebounds. Alison Jarrell also scored in double figures with 10 points.

The Crusaders look to get back in the win column as they head to Peru, Neb. on Saturday as they take on North Division opponent Peru State. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
