Baker blows past Crusaders 89-53

Baldwin City, Kan.  Evangel women's basketball fell on the road to Baker Wednesday night 89-53.  

A slow first quarter put Evangel in a 22-2 hole eight minutes into the and they never recovered. Baker extended the lead to 38-15 by halftime. The Wildcats outscored Evangel in every quarter en route to a 33 point victory. The game marks the largest margin of a loss by Evangel this season and their 89 points was the most they've allowed this year. 

Reggine Brown and Mackenzie Farmer led Evangel with 12 points each. Casy Askins added 11 points, all in the fourth quarter.

Macy Wallisch led the way for Baker with 15. Kelsey Larson and Erika Simpson each had 12.With the loss, Evangel's record drops to 6-14 and 5-10 in the Heart of America conference. Baker improves to 17-5 and 11-4 in the league.

"We didn't come out well at all," said Evangel head coach Leon Neal. "The younger group came in and played with more energy. They got us some more scoring but they also had trouble stopping them."

Evangel returns home on Saturday afternoon, February 6th when they host Benedictine in a Heart of America showdown. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:00pm.
