SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel women's basketball team pulled away from Avila Wednesday night for a 74-60 victory in Heart of America Conference action. 

The Crusaders were led by Allison Swanson and Alison Jarrell who each chipped in with 15 points. Jarrell added five three-pointers in the win. 

Avila shot 49 percent from the field but went 9-of-18 from the free throw line as the Crusaders were 20-of-25 from the stripe and also shot 42 percent from the field. Taylor Longley was 5-of-6 from the line as she added 14 points and four assists for Evangel. 

Evangel also won the rebounding battle 37-25 as they tallied 11 second-chance points to Avila's two. 

Avila was led by Raven Bunn who finished with 28 points and seven boards for the Eagles.

The Crusaders head back on the road Saturday to face Heart newcomer Mount Mercy. Tipoff from Cedar Rapids, Iowa is scheduled for 2 p.m.
